The B-CAM software will run on DOS 5.0 or later, or on a DOS window within windows. (Not for windows NT).
The P.C's minimum requirements are a 386, 486, or Pentium computer with 16 color VGA graphic card and monitor, mouse, 4MB RAM, 1MB free hard drive space.
The B-CAM software is Easy to Use, Visual,
and Powerful.
Only a few hours of a machinist's time will be enough for
him or her to master the system. Machining operations, from the most complex
to the very basic, can be easily programmed and simulated, in color, before
making a single cut.
B-CAM has tool path simulation and material removal simulation in colorized 2D. Colors show the depth of cut for the 3rd dimension. This is a full 3 axis system. Staight line tool paths are in 3 axis.
Minimal reference to manuals is required and you
don't the need to memorize tedious codes. All programming is done interactively
with the use of the computer mouse or arrow keys. The operator simply points
to the function shown on the screen and clicks the button. Pup-up menus
associated with the selected function will lead the operator through the
programming process. Plain English prompts and pup-up menus make B-CAM
very easy to learn and use. Program mistakes can be detected as soon as
an instruction is input, since each instruction is simulated instantly
upon input.
Modes of Operation Include:
- Manual Mode in which the motors can be moved continually by holding an arrow key down, or incrementally by pressing an arrow key once. The motion factor can be set from 0.0001" to 2" in this mode. You can manually position to a very high degree of accuracy.
- Digital Interactive Mode: Single vector straight line 3 dimensional moves can be made in polar or rectangular coordinates.
- Program Mode: The following functions
are available in Program Mode
Summary of Program functions:
- Set Origin
- Set Speed
- Move Relative (Straight line path in three
dimensions)
- Move Absolute (Straight line path in three
dimensions)
- Circle Relative
- Circle Absolute
- Rectangle
- Peck Drilling
- Circular Bolt Pattern
- Rectangular Bolt Pattern
- Circular Pocket
- Rectangular Pocket
- Dwell (pause for user specified number of
seconds)

Optional Servo Motor Controller Boards.
- If servo motor control is required for an axis, you must add this Servo Motor Controller for each axis requiring servo control. - You can have some axes stepper and some servo - mix & match. This board converts the STEP and DIRECTION signals used to drive stepper motors, into a standard servo signal with a +/- 10 Volt output signal.
HOW IT WORKS: STEP and DIRECTION signals are input
into this board (StarCAM Servo Motor Contoller) from the PC CHAM-96-MB
Board. A +/- 10 Volt Servo Signal from the StarCAM feeds into a servo amplifier.
The Encoder Signal from the motor feeds back into the StarCAM. The StarCAM's
on board DSP (Digital Signal Processor) closes the position loop and does
PID compensation to prevent oscillation which would otherwise occur in
a servo system. For details on connecting the SERVO CONTROLLER, click on
